PRCAI Elects New Managing Committee – 2008
Delhi. May 8, 2008 The Public Relations Consultants Association of India, the apex body of agencies engaged in providing public relations services, elected its new Managing Committee for 2008-2009, at a Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) held in New Delhi.
The President, Vice President, Secretary and the regional chapter heads constitute the Managing Committee, which will run the affairs of the Association.
The new Managing Committee comprises of Ms.Deepshikha Dharmaraj, Managing Partner-Business Development, Genesis Burson Marsteller as President, with Mr.Chetan Mahajan, GM-Finance– 20:20 Media as Vice President and Sharif Rangnekar, MD and CEO of Integral PR, as Secretary.
The key appointees for the Regional Chapters this year are: – Nitin Mantri-CEO, Avian Media as Chairperson, North; Sayantani Roy Mukherjee, Head South PR Pundit as Chairperson, South; and Dimple Kapur, Principal-West, The Practice as Chairperson, West. The appointees for Vice Chairs are Amitesh Banerjee, Client Service Director-Comma Consulting as Vice Chairperson – West; and Shane Jacob, Account Director, The Practice as Vice Chairperson – South.
At the AGM, last year’s achievements were highlighted to all members present and there were deliberations on the key challenges facing the Public Relations industry. Year 2007-08 has been a good year overall for the PRCAI with some successful events.
Both the Mini and the Annual PR Summits held in Mumbai and Delhi respectively were well attended and had eminent speakers, including Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms.Sheila Dikshit, Ms.Lorraine Worley from Dow Jones Sydney, Vikram Mehra Head Consumer Branding of TATA Sky, Vikram Bakshi, MD of Mcdonalds, Santosh Desai, MD of Fortune Group, Bibek Debroy, an economist, Robin Sandenburgh of IFC (World Bank), William Bissel of FABINDIA and Pia McRae of British Petroleum.
Last year also saw the launch of the Measurement Toolkit by PRCAI in association with TAM. A unique initiative, this Toolkit offers Public Relations professionals and their clients various guidelines and techniques enabling them to measure the value added by Public Relations in any communication programme.
In the coming year PRCAI will focus on bringing out a Research Study on the Public Relations Industry, which will capture the true size, identify key growth sectors and share best practices being followed across the country.
The association will also work with its member agencies to develop the talent in the industry and will therefore focus on continuing its informative seminars and knowledge sessions, inviting speakers from across industries to share their views on topics and issues impacting the Public Relations business.
